anatomy image collections

Posted on December 8, 2007 by Marie Kennedy

at my library we are building our first digital collection of orthopedic surgical anatomy images. i’ve been looking at a lot of web-based anatomy image collections to look at their metadata and user interfaces, and thought i’d compile some of them here. this isn’t an exhaustive list, but that’s the point. do you have a favorite that your library links to? leave a comment to tell me which gems i’m missing.

Anatomia 1522-1867: Anatomical plates from the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library

UCSD’s Catalog of Clinical Images (this site links to other anatomy collections)

University of Michigan Gross Anatomy Images

University of Utah Health Sciences Center’s Normal Anatomy Images (the images are from NLM’s Visible Human project, but they’ve been arranged in radiographic view)

Wright State University’s QuickTimeVR Anatomical Resource (registration required)
